The latest in my series of shorter ‘Behind the Gifted News’ posts takes a closer look at the announcement that the English Government is introducing selective 16-19 free schools for mathematically gifted learners.

  1. Now that would be an interesting reform! Ironically, free schools are not required to follow our national curriculum, though they must offer ‘a balanced and broadly-based curriculum’ and the model funding agreement – which provides the basis for individual schools’ agreements – requires them to teach English maths and science.
